Riding Day 1 (May 23) Barcelona → Figueres

         

I originally planned the route in blue. I also thought we might follow the more interesting black route if we were making good time. However, we got out late and had quite a bit of trouble following the motorcycle GPS. I got frustrated when we found ourselves way off the planned blue route. Also, one of the IMTBike guys had recommended the coastal route around Tossa de Mar. I bailed out and just headed towards Tossa de Mar which worked out very well. This reduced the first day's ride to about 300 km. The route we ended up riding is depicted by the green line.

In retrospect, it's a good idea to plan a shorter day. In the beginning we don't yet ride together smoothly and we need to get used to using our navigational tools.
